Electric cars are increasing in popularity every day. As technologies improve to boost the range of EVs, more people continue to put their trust into a relatively new-to-them product, especially if it's mass produced. Now, a gas supplier in the Netherlends, Holthausen Groupclaims to have increased the range of a Tesla Model S, making it the first company to successfully supplement a Tesla with a hydrogen power source.

Last week, the company's founder announced that the company has begun testing its Project Hesla, or as the name may imply, a hydrogen-powered Tesla. The vehicle, which was sourced second-hand and modified by the gas company, takes the benefits of the existing electrical infrastructure that exists in the Model S and adds a second layer of charging at minimal weight, effectively doubling the range of the luxury EV.

Not uncommon to manufacturers producing vehicles today, hydrogen is seen by some as a viable alternative fuel source for both consumer and commercial vehicles alike. One of the most challenging puzzles for the team to overcome was the milestone of adding additional power sources to a Model S, which Max Holthausen, one of the company's engineers, called "a big maze.

The Hesla now has two main sources of power, one being the on-board battery that comes from factory, and the other being from the hydrogen stored in tanks fitted in the vehicle. With respect ElectricAlex, the device you are linking to halves the speed of the internet signal it re-transmits. That may work for the OPs application, but there are solutions that maintain the full speed of the WiFi signal. I realize this topic can be a can of worms, but the OP should know the limitations of the proposed solution.

BTW, it sure would be interesting to see if your Model 3 picks up as good a wifi signal as your Model X if it were to be parked in the X's parking space!

I messed around with a bunch of extenders and ultimately went to a mesh WiFi system. Specifically the Netgear Orbi AC system with one router and 2 satellites. Now I have full WiFi signal in the garage vs none. Mesh wifi is the way to go Netgear AC like efuse above did the trick for me. Better wifi for the whole house, and should meet my needs for years to come Much better.

Agree with the comments above regarding mesh wifi. I have the Orbi system and love it. Avoid range extenders that will eventually reduce your speed at the expense of coverage. Mesh is good, but pricey.

I have a different model and it works great. Full Coverage throughout the whole house and the router is on 2nd floor at one corner of the house.

As it happens: I, too, had problems with the M3 getting connected to the wi-fi. The wireless router was in the basement, which worked fine for the 1st and 2nd floors, but not so good for the garage, off to one side and on top of dirt. As it happens, I wired the house for Ethernet when it was being built and happened to put a pair of RJ45's in the garage. Next: It turns out that all of the range extenders I've found also have an option to work as a wireless access point. One can hook up an Ethernet cable to the things, give it a separate SSID, security, and all that, and run it into one of the ports in the house wi-fi router.

Did that, now the garage has good coverage, and no slow-down on the rest of the wi-fi in the house. So, if you've got an Ethernet cable in the garage or can run one in there, that'd be your better choice. My car is parked in a detached building, feet from the house.

Eric Lundgren dubbed the new vehicle Phoenix, an apt moniker for a car built mostly with what others consider waste.

According to the following video, the Phoenix can drive for at least miles before recharging, and although it's definitely not in the same league as a Tesla in terms of its looks or features, it's a great example of reuse and repurposing of components, which is something that really should get a lot more play these days.

The Phoenix is virtually stripped, and only has two seats in it, but the point of the project wasn't to build an EV that looks great or can carry the most passengers, but to put "waste" back to work for cleaner transportation. We used those. We aggregated all these batteries and made this giant kilowatt power battery pack.

The idea of hybrid recycling, where individual electronics components that still work even though the product as a whole may not are reused and repurposed instead of getting trashed, is something that Lundgren says could be a key solution in our e-waste epidemic.

Rather than break down components such as battery cells, capacitors, RAM, and chips for their material value, these types of electronics could feasibly be removed, tested, and then repurposed in another product or project. It creates ZERO carbon footprint.
